This morning, leading adventure tour operator Explore has launched its Go Solo & SAVE sale. Until the end of the month, the operator is offering free single supplements on hundreds of 2022 departures, with (nearly) all others at half price* – saving up to £650 per person.
The sale comes as Explore announces a surge in solo travellers joining its small group trips. 60% of Explore bookings for 2022 are for solo travellers, up 27% on 2019 levels.
“Our willingness and ability to return to travel after the Coronavirus pandemic are very personal” says Managing Director of Explore, Michael Edwards, “so it’s perhaps not surprising that we’re seeing a sharp increase in solo travel. Rather than waiting for partners, family or friends to join their next adventure, travellers are seizing the moment, and joining on their own.
The operator’s small group trips are designed with solo travellers, as well as couples or friends, in mind. Travellers can choose from hundreds of bestselling trips in the Go Solo & SAVE Sale, from walking the Amalfi Coast or the Annapurna Circuit, to exploring the rainforests of Costa Rica or the temples of Gujurat, to cycling through the landscapes of Cuba or Jordan. In addition there are selected 2022 polar expeditions included in the Go Solo & SAVE promotion, with savings into the thousands of pounds. Travellers have until 1 March to book their trip and benefit from a discounted single supplement on departures until the end of the year.
Europe continues to top the polls as the go-to continent for solo travellers. Explore’s programme includes some 120 countries, and the five top destinations for solo travellers in 2022 are all in Europe - Italy, Spain, Portugal, Turkey and Greece. Jordan is the most-booked destination outside of Europe for solo travellers, in 6th place, followed by the UK, Albania and Iceland, with Morocco coming in at no. 10.
Whilst solo bookings are up across the board, it’s Explore’s active trips that are seeing the biggest increase, with solo bookings on walking and cycling tours in Europe up a whopping 113% on pre-pandemic levels.
*319 of Explore’s 345 small group trips are included in the Go Solo & SAVE sale. Single Rooms subject to availability.
