Explore Dubrovnik
Take a day to explore the beautiful old town of Dubrovnik, one of the world’s finest examples of a fortified medieval town and a filming location for ‘Game of Thrones’. Admire the limestone streets, baroque buildings with iconic red-tiled roofs, and location next to the shimmering Adriatic Sea. Take a cable car to a nearby hilltop and admire the stunning views or enjoy a walk around the ancient city walls. Dubrovnik is part of our Dubrovnik and Croatian Islands Adventure

What to expect on a family holiday in Croatia

How much activity is there on a family adventure in Croatia?
Our family adventures in Croatia are graded as Relaxed-to-Moderate. Our Relaxed holidays generally have chilled mornings and dedicated free days, whereas our Moderate trips have fuller days with down-time built into the itinerary.

What age are the children on a family Holiday in Croatia?
To make sure that you get the most out of your Croatian family holiday, there is a minimum age limit of seven. The average age of children travelling on our trips to Croatia is 12 for our Dubrovnik and Croatian Islands Adventure and 13 for our Croatian Active Adventure.

How many families travel together on a small group family adventure in Croatia?
In general, you'll travel with three to five other families on a family adventure in Croatia. We have found this is the perfect sized group - big enough to meet new likeminded people and similarly-aged children, while small enough to get to the heart of our destinations.

What is the accommodation like on a family tour in Croatia?
You’ll stay in a comfortable hotel every night on our Croatian Active Adventure. As swimming is such an important feature of most family holidays, we have made sure that swimming is available every day at the hotel and in the sea. On our Dubrovnik and Croatian Island Adventure, you’ll stay in a small locally-owned guesthouse in the centre of the car-free island of Lopud. The guesthouse is within easy walking distance of the sea.

What will the food be like on a family holiday in Croatia?
Croatian food in coastal regions is influenced by Greek and Italian flavours. You’ll find plenty of pasta with tomato sauce and also pasta added to soups and stews. Seafood is popular in coastal regions and you’ll find ‘black risotto’ listed on nearly every Dalmatian menu. This seafood risotto is flavoured with squid ink  and is very tasty - plus the kids will love how it turns your teeth and tongue black!
