Best family destinations in Vietnam

Discover Hoi An
Spend a day in the beautiful city of Hoi An, a UNESCO World Heritage site that once bustled with traders from across Asia. Rise early to visit the colourful fish market and stroll the cobbled streets lined with traditional wooden houses and Chinese temples. Later, hire bicycles to explore the surrounding countryside or take a short taxi ride to the coast and relax on the nearby beaches.

Cruise around Halong Bay
On our Discover Vietnam family holiday, you’ll enjoy an overnight voyage through one of Southeast Asia’s most breathtaking seascapes. Board a traditional junk boat and sail past dramatic islands, hidden caves and pristine beaches. Paddle out by sea kayak or rowing boat to the fishing village of Vung Vieng and as night falls across tranquil Bai Tu Long Bay, sample freshly caught seafood and regional dishes beneath the stars.

Explore the Mekong Delta
Discover the fertile waterways of the Mekong Delta, spending the night in a traditional homestay for a truly authentic overnight experience. Help your hosts prepare regional dishes, cycle through stilt-house villages and browse lively floating markets where traders exchange coconuts, fruit, rice and fresh fish. This experience is included on our Vietnam, Cambodia and Thailand Journey family holiday.

Experience Hanoi
Explore Vietnam’s vibrant capital through the narrow lanes of the Old Quarter, where the alluring fragrance of fresh street food fills the air. Visit the One-Pillar Pagoda, the Temple of Literature and the Mausoleum of Ho Chi Minh on a morning tour, then in the afternoon enjoy a traditional water puppet performance - a unique art form with roots stretching back centuries.

Uncover Ho Chi Minh City
Feel the energy of Ho Chi Minh City, the largest city in Vietnam, with a trip to the bustling Ben Thanh Market for fresh produce and handmade souvenirs. Take a guided walk along tree-lined boulevards dotted with French colonial landmarks, from the Notre-Dame Cathedral Basilica to the Central Post Office, before exploring a preserved remnant of the Vietnam War - a discreet weapons bunker hidden beneath a modest family house. The bunker is now home to decommissioned weapons, photographs and wartime memorabilia - a sobering reminder of the Vietnam War.
