International Beer Day is the perfect excuse to raise a glass in some of the most unforgettable places on Earth. From mountain towns to island hideaways, cities steeped in brewing tradition to emerging craft beer hubs, the world is full of incredible spots to enjoy a pint.

 

Whether you're sipping a crisp lager in a Greek taverna, sampling farmhouse ales in Lithuania, or relaxing with a cold brew in the Canadian Rockies, this guide celebrates the best destinations to toast great beer and good times. We'll cheers to that!

1. Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam

In the bustling heart of Ho Chi Minh City, you’ll find one of Vietnam’s very first microbreweries. East West Brewing Company offers the opportunity to try sliders of 4 or 10 beers, ranging from classic pale ale to an aromatic and fruity Saigon rosé. As you embark on a journey inside Vietnam, you’ll have the opportunity to visit East West Brewing Company during your time in Ho Chi Minh City.

 

During our tour you'll also stop off at Hoi An – another great place to enjoy a beer. Local beers and fresh Vietnamese food are a winning combination, complemented with the town's riverside charm and laid-back vibe.

2. Sapporo, Japan

Japan has a vibrant beer culture, from crisp local brews like Asahi and Sapporo to craft beer bars in Tokyo and Kyoto. A must-visit is an izakaya – a cosy, casual Japanese pub where beer flows freely alongside delicious small plates like yakitori and sashimi. The warm, social atmosphere makes every pint feel like a celebration of good company and great taste.

3. Sacred Valley, Peru

4. Vilnius, Lithuania

The Baltic States of Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania are ideal destinations for beer lovers, especially those exploring by bike. 5. Krakow, Poland

Browar and Chmiel, or head to the Kazimierz district for lively atmospheres. With a thriving craft beer scene, deep brewing traditions and affordable prices, Krakow is a top destination for anyone who enjoys great beer in even better settings.

6. Belfast, Northern Ireland

In Ireland, Donegal offers a unique and rewarding beer experience. The city charms with its coastal views and cosy pubs, where local brews pair perfectly with seafood and sunsets. And of course, wherever you go in Ireland – especially Dublin, the capital – warrants a sip of Guinness, or at least a visit to the Guinness Storehouse to learn more about this legacy beer. 

 

Meanwhile, in Northern Ireland, Belfast also offers a thriving beer scene, home to standout breweries and pub culture steeped in history. Ballymena, though quieter, also offers a warm welcome and traditional pubs that reflect Northern Ireland’s rich beer heritage – ideal for a relaxed pint in friendly surroundings.
