Tell us about yourself

I had an interest in history and nature since my childhood, and my journey into tour guiding started from scouting and travels with my family. I studied in Ankara University and have been a licensed tour guide since 2009. I have since been happily working with mostly small groups with a special interest, especially nature and culture activities such as hiking, botany, birding, or visiting historical sites around Anatolia. I worked with Explore almost since the very beginning of my career.

Tim is very intelligent and knowledgeable. He has history memorised which he delivers with ease. He makes it fun as well. He is not dry and boring but makes Turkish history come alive. He used props accordingly to illustrate his narrative such as books, overlays, food sampling. As a leader he tries to accommodate everyone's individual needs and interests. His English is perfect. I have traveled extensively with multiple groups and he is, by far, the best trip leader I have ever had.

We have been on a few group holidays with different companies but Tim really made this trip stand out in a way that other Leaders hadn't. In particular: The overiding impression was of Tim's enthusiasm for everyting and his constant high voltage energy dedicated to giving us a good time 24/7 and helping us to understand a little about Turkey. Tim's knowledge about his country, its archaeology, history, flora, geology and politics (now and in the past) was extraordinary. Tim's networks were impressive. A request or a problem would lead to a couple of phone calls and Hey Presto, everything was sorted.

Tim excelled in all all aspects of leading the tour. Firstly, his knowledge of the many sites we went to see and related history for them was the best I had encountered on a trip like this. It really helped us get the most out of visiting them. Also as we had a lot to pack in and the visits sometimes had limited time he really helped us to get to the most interesting bits, taking into account other sites we were later visiting in the trip.Alongside this he picked out some great and varied restaurants and always explained the local specialiiites I always ate well when following his recommendations. Even though I'd been to Turkey a couple of times before this meant I tried a few more obscure things I'd never come across or heard about before - all of which were delicious.
